The Prophet ﷺ prescribed certain adhkār, such as specific supplications to be recited after salah or a set number of times. As for adhkār not directly prescribed by the Prophet ﷺ, they are permissible to recite as long as they align with the Qur'an, the sunnah, and correct Islamic beliefs.^[1]

If someone chooses to recite verses of the Qur'an, the names of Allah, or any permissible supplication a certain number of times or does so under the guidance of a shaykh, there is nothing wrong with this, provided they do not believe it is obligatory or sunnah unless proven by the Qur'an or hadith. Many of these practices related to reciting specific litanies a certain number of times are based on personal experience rather than specific hadiths from the Prophet ﷺ, and one is free to choose whether or not to follow them.
