ANNOUNCEMENTS:
We will be closed for summer vacation from July 6 to August 17.
If a person is suffering from knee pain due to old age and is unable to fold their knees and sit in the position of tashahhud—only managing to sit on the floor with great difficulty and severe pain—while still being able to perform all other actions of ṣalāh, such as standing and making sajda, how should they perform their tashahhud? Can they perform all other actions of ṣalāh normally and sit on a chair specifically for tashahhud?
If an individual who can perform sajda on the ground is unable to sit in the tashahhud position, they may sit on the ground with their leg stretched out, on a chair, or as otherwise feasible. All other positions will be performed in accordance with the sunnah.[1]
And Allah knows best.
