Allahﷻ  has given us the faith of Islam as a complete way of life and has made it incumbent upon us to seek knowledge regarding our faith so that we may live our lives according to it. However, in pursuing Islamic knowledge, we must make sure that we do so in a manner that is accordance with the faith and not contrary to it.

Movies and TV shows generally contain many impermissible components such as music, intermingling of sexes, and depiction of non-Islamic ideals and actions. Additionally, they are often riddled with historical inaccuracies and overdramatizations.

The movie “The Message” follows the life of the Noble Prophet ﷺ, however, “The Message” also contains music and the intermingling of sexes. While “The Message” does not depict the Noble Prophet ﷺ directly, it does portray the illustrious companions of the Prophet ﷺ, which one should avoid as it leads to their disrespect and incorrect characterization.

Although one may have good intentions in watching “Islamic content,” the reality is that we must perform deeds according to the Sharia and educating ourselves in ways that are in line with the Sunna. If one wishes to educate themselves about Islam, it is recommended to read authentic Islamic literature under the guidance of traditional Islamic scholars or to attend their lectures and sermons.^[1]
