Is “Tinted Sunscreen” halal to use for men? When I use normal sunscreen, it leaves a white cast on my face. I have been looking for other options and found Tinted sunscreen. This is a sunscreen that has a natural skin tone color but it doesn’t cover any blemishes or pigmentation like makeup does, just looks more natural on the face instead of a white cast. Is it permissible to use, or does it still fall under makeup?
Tinted sunscreen is essentially a standard sunscreen that contains added skin-tone pigments, so it blends into the complexion instead of leaving the white cast that many sunscreens cause. Its primary purpose remains sun protection, and the tint simply helps it match the skin more naturally. While some people use tinted sunscreen as a base under makeup, its coverage is generally very sheer and it is not designed to conceal blemishes or imperfections the way actual makeup products do. Its function is overwhelmingly that of a protective SPF product that avoids the unnatural whiteness of regular sunscreen, especially on medium or darker skin tones.[1]
Therefore, using tinted sunscreen does not take the ruling of makeup, as it is not being applied for beautification or cosmetic enhancement, but rather to achieve proper sun protection without an unnatural appearance.[2] Since the tint is only there to prevent a white cast and create a natural blend with one’s skin, it would be permissible for men to use it.

والدهن، والكحل بالفتح فيهما مصدران، أو الضم اسمان، والمعنى عليه لا يكره استعمالهما قوله: [إذا لم يقصد الزينة] فإن قصدها كره "نهر" واعلم أنه لا تلازم بين قصد الجمال، وقصد الزينة. فالقصد الأول: لدفع الشين، وإقامة ما به الوقار، وإظهار النعمة شكرا لا فخرا، وهو أثر أدب النفس، وشهامتها. والثاني: أثر ضعفها، وقالوا: بالخضاب وردت السنة، ولم يكن لقصد الزينة، ثم بعد ذلك إن حصلت زينة فقد حصلت في ضمن قصد مطلوب فلا يضره إذا لم يكن ملتفتا إليه "بحر" عن الكمال
